1964 Volkswagen Type 34

The Type 34 was VW's premium model. It cost about twice as much as a Beetle. Though never officially sold in the US, some dealers imported them and some G.I.s brought them back after their tours of Germany. This is the only one I've ever seen. Jay Leno covered the Type 34 a while back.

1966 Chevrolet Corvair

Like many Corvair people, the owner of this car has a whole yard full of Corvairs in various states of decay. Devotees of Chevy's air-cooled oddity are a cult-like group reluctant to allow any examples of their favorite car to go to the crusher, no matter how deteriorated they are. The owner of this coupe also had in his yard a rare Greenbrier pickup with ramp-gate on the side. This truck has the Corvair engine under the truck bed. It looks operational.

1970 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia

I always really liked these and I'm sure they're fun to own. On the other hand, I don't know anything about air-cooled engines, and these cars are really not very safe.

1963 Chevrolet Greenbrier Van

Volkswagen's first two vehicles were the Type 1 (Beetle) and the Type 2 (van). By 1960 Chevrolet also had a rear-drive car with an air-cooled rear engine in the form of the Corvair, so they decided that since those VW beatnik vans were so popular, they needed one just like it.

The Greenbrier got pretty good reviews from the car magazines, and copies in good condition command high prices today.
