End of the Road: 1991 Mercury Colony Park

The American station wagon is gone. Some European brands will sell you one, as will Subaru, if those cars are really station wagons rather than "5-door hatchback SUVs" or something.
* This was the last full-size wagon from Ford. GM would offer them through 1996. Chrysler last offered a full-size wagon in 1977.
* The biggest Mercury wagon had been called "Colony Park" since 1957.
* Washington state "collector vehicle" license plates are a good deal if you just like driving something old. Anything 30-plus years old qualifies, and they're around $100 and considered to be a "permanent registration". After you buy them you don't have to pay for new tabs every year.

1991 Cadillac Sedan DeVille

It's a pretty nice car I guess - it better be, considering that it cost at least $66,000 new in 2019 dollars. When this car was built, the new Lexus and Infiniti models that would start eating Cadillac's lunch had just come out. They were similarly priced, but unlike Caddy's of the time Lexus and Infiniti looked like they might be driven by someone under 75 years old.

1991 Honda Acty - minitruck roundup

All of the big carmakers in Japan make this same truck: very small engine mounted forward of the rear axle under the bed, full-time 4-wheel drive, manual transmission. The Acty engine is 547 cc; an engine that size would not be considered large in a motorcycle. These trucks do not of course meet American standards for safety and emissions, but it's legal to drive vehicles on the street that don't meet those standards once they are 25 years old. The other two trucks below are a 1990 Mitsubishi Mini Cab with dump truck bed, and a circa-1990 Suzuki Carry 660.
