1931 Ford Model A pickup truck

I've seen this truck on the street and from the sound of its engine, it's definitely all original. That's all the more remarkable given that the early to mid 30s Ford is the most popular vehicle of all time for building hot rods.

  1. This is my truck! It's actually a late 31 model A pickup, and not a deluxe, its a commercial(identified by the painted grill and cowl trim instead of stainless), which is rare in the small trucks.(those are 1940 "ford deluxe" hubcaps) the bed is very similar to a 32 bed which is what confuses people. It is built as a period correct traditional hot rod of the pre and post WWII war era. It does sport an original style engine with a high compression police head and and single down draft Stromberg 97 carburetor of a 1936 ford v8. The transmission is a 1939 ford "top loader" which gives it synchros for faster shifting. It has been lowered all the way around for that perfect hot rod rake. It has an original axle heated and dropped in the front along with a reverse eye main leaf, and the rear is a custom rear spring I made using a reverse eye main leaf and removing several leafs. its about 4 inches lower all around than stock. It has 1939 Ford "Juice" brakes, and wheels are 1940 Ford 16 inch wheels and aforementioned caps with 5.50x16 front and 7.50x16 rear Firestone bias ply tires, It also has varies upgrades such as period Guide BLC Sealed beam headlamps and 1936 ford tail lights and a custom "winged wheel" bake-alight shift knob. It still runs a 6volt generator, cloth covered wire, and flathead screws, as I want it to be a time machine! thanks for posting pictures!

  2. Hi King, thanks for posting!
I can actually tell the difference between a Model A and a '32 - the Model A has a different radiator. Or course that would have meant walking into your driveway to look at it, which I wasn't going to do.
I saw you driving down Dexter one day, and the sound of the engine made me think it's original. Cool.
